We spent a few days in New York City, and I came away filled with paintings I wanted to do. It is hard to get the juxtaposition of the immense height of the buildings, beside the intimate scenes played out at street level. The skyscrapers stand like giants, but my eyes were continually drawn to the stories around me. Although I moved away almost 40 years ago, it quickly felt like returning home.
