I left these flowers in the vase too long and the rose went from open to losing petals overnight. But there are so many flowers on each cluster that when one goes, another is opening. These roses are from a rootstock onto which the Father Hugo rose is grafted. The rootstock is so vigorous that it sent out canes and now two different roses are blooming from one plant. I like the single roses, they have a beautiful shape when just opening and they are easier to paint than complicated double or cabbage roses. Painted from a still life I set up in my studio.
