Media: oil paint on Raymar, canvas covered panel
Size: 6x8 in
Painted in plein air in my yard; a view through the madronas towards Tacoma. The day was cool and overcast; the colors were harmonious and mostly medium value, not too many darks or lights. Madrona have both smooth and rough bark. The smooth bark turns brick red during the summer and peels off the tree trunk. The rough bark has hints of blue and lavender. You can see both the smooth and rough bark in this painting.
