This bear emerged from a dream after several encounters near my homestead where these magnificent creatures reminded me of nature's raw authenticity. The circular form represents the boundary between our domesticated lives and wild consciousness—a permeable membrane we cross in moments of true presence. I honor bear as keeper of ancient wisdom—the guardian who teaches us to respect boundaries while remembering our own wild nature. In painting this moment, I sought to capture that pause of mutual recognition when we glimpse ourselves in the eyes of the more-than-human world.
