This artwork embodies a deep exploration of cultural identity and personal reflection, conveyed through traditional motifs and the vibrant colour of the blue sari which symbolises wisdom, tranquility, and spirituality. In India the colour blue is reminiscent of the vastness of the sky and ocean and is associated with depth, stability, and peace. It is also linked to divine figures like Lord Krishna and Lord Rama, further enhancing its spirituality. Many women choose blue sarees for religious occasions and spiritual gatherings, as the colour promotes calm and devotion evoking feelings of tranquility and introspection.
I am really happy with this work and especially like the contrast of this woman draped in a beautiful blue sari, standing at the threshold of a Temple doorway. The deep black background contrasts with her vibrant attire, drawing attention to her poised figure as she enters her Temple for worship.
The Intricate carvings framing the scene hint at a rich cultural heritage and the interplay between the individual and their environment reveals a narrative that resonates with both historical and contemporary contexts inviting reflection. This fusion honours heritage and tradition and my brushwork and composition create a space which is both quietly intimate and yet expansive hopefully encouraging a dialogue between the artwork and the viewer to consider identity, culture and the significance of Temple worship, belonging and peace.
