Hellebores are one of my favorite flowers to paint. They bloom in the winter/spring and also go by the name, Lenten Roses. It is surprisingly, to me at least, toxic. Lots of folklore regarding hellebores including beliefs that it could cure madness, ward off evil spirits, and cause invisibility. Hellebores are one of my favorite flowers to paint.
