For me, summer means a road trip where I paint and take photos. This year's trip included the high desert of SE Oregon. I take along a couple books to study, by artists I wish to learn from. I painted this beautiful scene from the influence of Johannes Vloothius.
This amazing high desert landscape of soft colors reflecting the canyon's stark beauty, beginning with the pale grays of the overcast skies, to the muted purples of the distant hills, the sandstone canyon walls, to the vegetation growing along the seasonal creek.
