Yuehua He was born in Beijing, China in 1959. He has loved painting since childhood. Under the guidance of his mother, an art teacher, he began to systematically learn painting in his childhood and went through rigorous basic learning and training. He graduated from the Central Academy of Arts and Crafts in Beijing, China (now renamed the Academy of Fine Arts of Tsinghua University). In 1980, he worked as an artist in a cinema to draw movie posters. From 1997 to 2000, he served as the director of the Beijing Design Art Museum. He held solo exhibitions in Beijing in 1999 and in New York in 2018. In 2012, he served as a consultant to ACOPAL (American Chinese Painting Artists Alliance) and co-organized the "Contemporary American Realism" exhibition with the Beijing World Art Museum. After immigrating to the United States in 2000, he returned to full-time painting. He has been passionate about art for many years. From realism to abstract research and practice, his works have undergone a series of evolutions. The style has also changed from realistic wandering to casual expression.
